Claim time limits.

You have 3 years from the date of your injury to make a claim for compensation. For workers under the age of 18 this time limit starts when they turn 18.

Information required for a claims win.

  • You will need a medical report to prove the extent of your injuries. You should therefore seek medical attention and inform your doctor that you were injured at work.
  • You will need evidence to show how you were injured. For example a photo of where you were harmed would be good to show it was an unsafe environment.
  • Keep the details of witnesses who can support your claim.
  • Keep records of all expenses incurred from the moment you were injured. These include medical costs you had to personally pay for, any travel costs to and from medical appointments and any earnings lost because of time off work.

Finding the right claims solicitor is vital to winning the maximum compensation payout.

Working out personal injury claim values.

The value of your claim is dependent on the nature and the extent of your injuries. After an initial review of the circumstances of your case, our solicitors can give you an idea of how much you could be due based on other similar successful claims.

Injury amounts.

A general guide to claim values for some injuries is as follows;

  • Minor neck and shoulder injuries – £4,000 to £6,000
  • Severe neck and shoulder injuries – £10,000 to £20,000
  • Minor back injuries – £6,000 to £20,000
  • Minor lower body injuries – £3,000 to £10,000
  • Minor head injuries – £3,000 to £6,000
  • Brain damage – £20,000 to many hundreds of thousands of pounds (The amount depends on the severity of the injury)

For claim values specific to your individual case call 0800 633 5730.

Loss of earnings.

As part of your claim value the amount you have lost in wages will be taken into account. If you have been severely injured and are unable to go back to work the loss of future earnings will also be factored into any payout.

Out of pocket expenses.

These are the costs you have incurred travelling to and from hospital appointments, or replacing any property which was damaged when you were injured.

Service costs.

If you have been severely injured then you may require day to day professional care, your payout will take these costs into consideration.
