Making an industrial deafness claim

Do I have a strong case for a hearing loss claim?

To prove that your hearing has been damaged by your work, there are some basic steps that you’ll need to follow:

  • Visit your doctor and ask for a hearing test.

You will probably be given an appointment at a hearing clinic. During your hearing examination a specialist will test what type of hearing issue you are suffering from. The hearing test (also known as an audiogram) will result in a graph that will show how much your hearing has been damaged

  • Seek legal advice.

If the hearing test results show that your hearing has been affected by work then you are entitled to make a claim.

Acoustic deafness compensation claims

Acoustic deafness is also known as acoustic shock or even acoustic trauma. It comes as a result of a very sudden loud noise such as gunfire, something dropping from a great height or loud feedback on a speaker or headset.

The damage can be so severe that a perforated eardrum can occur.  Hearing damage can be as mild as temporary loss of hearing or as severe as permanent loss of hearing

Tinnitus compensation claims

Sufferers of this condition will usually hear a hissing or buzzing in the ears. Sometimes it affects just one ear and may sound like whistling. It may even sound comparable to background traffic noise. The condition sometimes lasts for a short period of time, and at other times it can be permanent.

People who work in transport, industrial settings, factories or with heavy machinery are at great risk of tinnitus. Depending upon the level that the person has, it can affect concentration and sleep.

How much compensation will I get for my hearing loss?

Compensation payouts for hearing loss claims vary depending on how severe the hearing damage is and other factors.

Examples of hearing loss compensation we have attained for our clients.

£4,000 in compensation for clients who have suffered some degree of noise damage.
£7,500 for noise induced hearing loss for a man who worked as a welder for many years.

Compensation can exceed the payout levels above.
