£375,OOO Military Hearing Loss Settlement for Former Serviceman
Imperium Law has secured a £375,000 settlement for a former serviceman following a claim for military noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus.
The claim was handled by Imperium Law owner and solicitor Philip Jackson and concluded following a joint settlement meeting with the Ministry of Defence.
Our client served in the Army for 17 years, including service in Afghanistan. In 2024, at the age of 34, he was medically discharged s a result of the hearing damage he had sustained.
After being denied compensation under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, he instructed Imperium Law to pursue a civil claim for damages.
The £375,000 settlement includes compensation for his hearing loss and tinnitus, together with associated financial losses, including loss of pension.
Although our client was able to find alternative employment relatively quickly following his discharge, his hearing loss may place him at a disadvantage when seeking or retaining employment in the future. The settlement therefore includes a significant sum to reflect the potential longer-term effect of his condition on his career and earning capacity. Successful outcomes such as this are about more than compensation. They can provide financial security and recognition of the lasting effect that service-related hearing damage may have on a person’s life, career and future prospects.
