Are you suffering from work related loss of hearing?
If you work in a noisy environment and suffer from ringing in the ears, muffled hearing or temporary deafness you may be suffering NIHL and could be entitled to compensation.
Noise induced deafness is often gradual with symptoms worsening over time, if left unchecked the damage can become permanent and hearing can be significantly impaired.
If your hearing has been damaged you can find out about making a claim by calling our hearing loss team at Imperium Law on 0800 633 5730.
If you or a family member suffer from any of the following hearing problems, make an appointment with your doctor to have your hearing checked.
Symptoms of NIHL:
Contact Imperium for ‘No Win No Fee’ claims advice.
- Ringing in the ears.
This can be a symptom of tinnitus. Sufferers experience a constant ringing in the ears even when there is no noise. It can be a very frustrating condition.
- Temporary hearing loss.
If after exposure to loud noise your hearing is impaired for hours before eventually returning to normal, you could be in the early stages of NIHL.
- Muffled hearing.
Often when hearing has been damaged by excessive noise sufferers have difficulty picking up higher frequencies. In such cases it becomes difficult to hear normal conversation.
Signs of hearing damage include:
- Inability to hear all words and sounds clearly, often people sound muffled when they speak.
- Difficulty following a conversation in a noisy environment.
- Telephone conversation is difficult.
- Inability to clearly hear a noise when your back is turned.
- Needing to have the TV or radio volume set at a high level.
Making a hearing loss claim.
If you suffer from any of the above, the first thing to do is to make an appointment with a medical expert for a hearing test.
By having your hearing checked you will find out the extent of the loss, and further investigation can reveal what caused the damage.
If it can be shown that it was caused by your job and your employer’s failure to keep you safe and protect your hearing, you can make a claim for compensation.
Making a claim can help you achieve a payout for medical treatment and a higher specification hearing aid than might be available to you through the NHS.
If you believe your hearing has been damaged because of your work call our hearing loss team on 0800 633 5730.
