High Court judge awards a paralysed student £14 million in car accident compensation.
Norfolk teenager Issy Sale is to receive one of the largest road accident compensation awards ever paid to a minor.
The 17 year old A level student sustained severe spinal injures whilst travelling as a passenger in her mother's car.
Her mother had been driving along Horning Road in Hoveton, Norfolk when she veered into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Although Issy was seated in the back of the car wearing a seat belt, the accident caused catastrophic damage to her spinal cord and she was left tetraplegic.
Her mother's insurers accepted liability and an interim payment was agreed for ongoing care.
The case recently went through the High Court where a lump sum payment of £3.2 million was agreed, to be followed by annual payments for 24 hour care, therapy and loss of earnings. The total award is the equivalent of £14 million over her lifetime.
